Modeling with Words: The Power of Language in Parenting and Potty Training

As parents, we often think that young children don't fully understand what's going on around them. In reality, their inner world is developing rapidly, and our role is to guide them with patience, love, and, most importantly, language.

During their first years, children function mostly from the right side of the brain: emotions, impulses, and reactions. Our task is to help them integrate that emotional side with the left side, the one responsible for reasoning and language. How do we do that? Through connection, words, and modeling.

Talking to them, narrating what happens, explaining how we see the world, and sharing our values are priceless gifts.
